Carmit Bachar


Carmit Bachar (born September 4, 1974 in Los Angeles, California) is a singer/dancer of the modern burlesque pop group, The Pussycat Dolls.

Born with a cleft lip/palate, she is of Israeli/Chinese and Dutch/Indonesian descent and comes from a family of entertainers. Her mother was a dance teacher and her father danced and even once worked with Marcel Marceau. She competed internationally as a rhythmic gymnast for 10 years, and placed 5th in the Olympic trials in 1992, she even went on to compete in the World Championships. During her career competing on the National Team, she attended Hamilton Academy of Music in Los Angeles, studying music, dance, and also piano and viola.

Carmit loves the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the show In Living Color.

Her nickname is "Foxy".

She loves the book The Four Agreements.

She lists some of her special skills as bungee jumping, rhythmic gymnastics, and conga drums.

Carmit is currently trying to start a non-profit organization for children born with a cleft lip/palate called "Smile With Me."

Carmit help to found a "multi-genre cabaret" in 2001 called "The Zodiac Show". Originally a recurring party in a photo studio, "Freedom" (as it was first called) soon grew too large for a house party. Carmit and friends soon took "Freedom" to the next level and started booking events with the dancers who came to the party. "The Zodiac Party" now runs a sexual cabaret show on a regular basis.

Carmit is the longest surviving member of The Pussycat Dolls. She joined the group in 1995, just two years after they were formed. All the other dolls joined a few years after her.

Carmit has appeared on a one page spread in Maxim magazine.

In 1999, she was the "Livin' La Vida Loca" girl in Ricky Martin's world tour.

She has been on several tours including No Doubt's 2000 World Tour. She also appears on stage with Gwen Stefani during "Bathwater" in No Doubt's DVD "No Doubt : Rock Steady Live".

She was a back-up dancer for Janet Jackson during the infamous peek-a-boo Superbowl half time show.

In 2003/2004 she was a dancer for Beyoncé. She appears in Beyoncé's music videos "Crazy In Love" (she shakes her thing twice during the video, the last time in a hard to miss lime trench coat) and "Baby Boy" (as a backup dancer). She was in her tour and DVD "Beyoncé Live at Wembley".

Bachar has also appeared in several films. She was in 13 Going on 30, Along Came Polly, The Scorpion King and appeared in 2003's Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle with The Pussycat Dolls.
